Position Overview
The Portfolio Analytics Analyst will support portfolio monitoring, operational performance reporting, and strategic analysis across a diverse group of portfolio companies.
This role combines financial analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, and executive reporting responsibilities. The individual will work closely with investment professionals, operating partners, finance leaders, and management teams to help identify trends, evaluate performance, and support value creation initiatives.
This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical capabilities who enjoys working with large data sets, building reporting tools, and translating complex information into actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Performance Analytics
- Monitor financial and operational performance across a portfolio of operating companies
- Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual performance trends against budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans
- Develop KPI dashboards and reporting packages used by investment and operating teams
- Identify performance drivers, risks, and opportunities across portfolio businesses
- Support benchmarking initiatives across companies and industries
Executive & Investment Reporting
- Prepare recurring portfolio performance reports for senior leadership and investment professionals
- Assist with board presentation materials and management reporting packages
- Consolidate operational and financial information from multiple portfolio companies
- Develop analyses that support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
Data & Business Intelligence
- Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools
- Aggregate, validate, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources
- Improve data quality, reporting consistency, and KPI standardization across portfolio companies
- Support implementation of business intelligence and reporting initiatives
Strategic Projects
- Assist with acquisition onboarding and portfolio integration projects
- Support value creation initiatives through operational and financial analysis
- Perform ad hoc modeling and analytics related to growth initiatives, profitability improvement, and operational efficiency
- Partner with operating executives and finance teams on special projects as needed
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, FP&A, transaction advisory, business analytics, corporate finance, or private equity operations support
- Strong financial analysis and Excel skills
- Experience building dashboards and working with large data sets
- Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Alteryx, or similar analytics tools preferred
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to interact confidently with executives and cross-functional stakeholders
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity
