About the Role
A well-established St. Louis law firm is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to manage end-to-end payroll processing for attorneys and staff. This is a detail-driven role for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, professional services environment and takes pride in accuracy, confidentiality, and delivering exceptional internal service.

Key Responsibilities
- Process semi-monthly payroll for attorneys and staff, including salaries, hourly wages, overtime, bonuses, and incentive compensation
- Calculate shareholder expense reimbursements and deductions
- Handle monthly counsel contract and 1099 payroll processing
- Process complex deductions including taxes, garnishments, and voluntary deductions
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll records, compensation data, and personnel information
- Prepare payroll-related reports for Finance, HR, and firm leadership
- Manage year-end processes including W-2 preparation and payroll accruals
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and tax-related questions, partnering with the CFO to resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile employee benefit deductions and carrier invoices, resolving premium discrepancies with vendors and the Benefits Manager
- Upload HSA, FSA, and other benefit contributions through vendor portals
- Coordinate payment of benefit invoices including medical, dental, vision, and other employee benefit plans
- Maintain and update payroll deductions for qualifying events, enrollment changes, terminations, and other benefit adjustments
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of payroll experience managing end-to-end processing; law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS payroll modules
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local wage-and-hour laws
- Ability to analyze, reconcile, and report payroll and benefits data with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the discretion to handle sensitive compensation and personnel information
- Strong numerical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and customer service orientation
- Flexibility to work additional hours during peak payroll periods as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Human Resources preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
