Job Description:

The Part-Time Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and financial operations for a multi-entity organization. This hands-on role oversees financial reporting, cash management, accounting operations, payroll, and selected human resources functions while ensuring accurate financial records and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is comfortable wearing multiple hats and enjoys working in a collaborative, growing environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee accounting operations for multiple business entities.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Review and approve accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage cash balances, and support cash forecasting activities.
  • Perform account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Administer payroll processing using Paychex and ensure payroll compliance.
  • Support human resources administration, including employee records, onboarding, benefits coordination, and other HR-related activities as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal financial policies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to provide financial analysis and support business planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with audits, tax preparation, and other special financial projects as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior-level accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience managing accounting for multiple entities is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, month-end close, and cash management.
  • Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Experience using Paychex or similar payroll systems is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Interest in growing from a part-time role into a full-time leadership position as the organization continues to expand.
