Responsibilities

  • Lead the CIBC Family Office in Canada, setting vision, strategy, and operating model to deliver integrated advisory services to Ultra‑High Net Worth (UHNW) individuals and families.
  • Oversee a portfolio of 25–50 high‑profile UHNW relationships, ensuring exceptional service, rigorous governance, and “One CIBC” delivery aligned to risk appetite and reputation.
  • Manage all channels of family office services including cash management, credit structuring, investment management, estate planning, tax strategies, philanthropy, succession planning, and day‑to‑day administration.
  • Act as trusted advisor, coordinating with internal and external specialists to provide seamless, holistic financial stewardship.
  • Develop sales and service capabilities to deepen relationships and acquire/retain UHNW clients, collaborating with CIBC Capital Markets, Commercial Banking, Wood Gundy, CPIC, Bank USA and Caribbean, Imperial Service, and external COIs.
  • Establish performance‑management disciplines (KPIs, dashboards, pipeline governance, capacity models) to scale delivery and improve client outcomes.
  • Provide senior relationship executive oversight for end‑to‑end coordination of planning, advice, and servicing for a select group of UHNW families.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of advanced financial planning, wealth structuring, governance, wealth transfer, philanthropic planning, and liquidity planning.
  • Own the end‑to‑end engagement model, implementing service standards for timeliness, quality, and client experience.
  • Build, lead, develop a high‑performing team of Regional Heads of Family Office across Canada.
  • Own business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance for the function.
  • Maintain strong controls over onboarding, due diligence, documentation, privacy, conflicts, complaints, and monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in UHNW wealth management, private banking, and/or family office.
  • Proven ability to build, scale, and govern a complex advisory platform.
  • Experience managing a select portfolio of sensitive, high‑profile UHNW relationships with executive visibility.
  • Strong knowledge of balance sheet and cash‑flow planning, complex credit, investment governance, and Canadian wealth‑planning topics.
  • Comfort with multi‑jurisdiction considerations and heightened due diligence expectations.
  • Executive presence and facilitation skills for family governance discussions.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality management.
  • Stakeholder management across senior executives and control functions.
  • Business‑management skills in KPIs, pipeline governance, capacity planning, continuous improvement.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication; ability to drive accountability through a matrix model.
