Role Description
To support the Financial Controller in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts, VAT compliance, statutory reporting, budgets and annual audit coordination, all in a payroll focused industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare timely monthly management accounts, including P&L, cash‑flow commentary, and variance analysis against budget.
• Ensure timely and accurate VAT returns and related reconciliations, in line with Maltese VAT regulations and company policy.
• Coordinate and support the statutory audit process, including preparation of schedules, responses to auditor queries, and follow‑up on findings.
• Monitor and reconcile key balance sheet accounts and ensure a clean and timely month‑end and year‑end close.
• Perform billing cycle reconciliations for completeness and accuracy of the process.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate data and commentary on historical performance.
Qualifications and Expeirence
Must have
- Part qualified in ACCA or equivalent or strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial control
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation skills and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
Ideal
- Previous experience working in payroll in a preparation or review position
- Solid understanding of Maltese payroll and employment laws and regulations
