A rapidly growing company in the food production and distribution industry is seeking a strategic and hands-on Logistics Manager to lead transportation, logistics, and distribution operations across a multi-site network.
This high-impact role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for developing and executing logistics strategies that support business growth, improve service levels, optimize transportation costs, and ensure the timely delivery of perishable products to customers

Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Logistics Management
- Manage all transportation and distribution activities across multiple operating locations.
- Develop and execute logistics strategies that support company growth and customer service objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with carriers, brokers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and distribution partners.
- Negotiate transportation rates, contracts, and service agreements.
- Monitor transportation performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Ensure products are delivered efficiently, on time, and in compliance with quality standards.
Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate with Operations, Production, Sales, and Customer Service teams to align logistics activities with business needs.
- Coordinate outbound shipments and distribution schedules to meet customer requirements.
- Support market expansion initiatives through scalable logistics solutions.
- Proactively address transportation and delivery challenges.
Cost Management & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze transportation costs, lane performance, and freight utilization
- Establish and monitor key logistics performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service excellencent.
- Develop logistics budgets and support forecasting activities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
Distribution Network Optimization
- Evaluate transportation routes, carrier networks, and distribution strategies.
- Recommend improvements that increase efficiency and strengthen supply chain resilience.
- Support expansion into new markets and customer channels.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate transportation risks and disruptions.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with all transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and carrier compliance records.
- Support quality programs related to product handling, transportation, and traceability.
- Promote best practices that protect product integrity throughout the distribution process.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as the organization's logistics subject matter expert.
- Influence and collaborate effectively across departments.
- Provide leadership and guidance to logistics personnel and future team members.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive logistics and transportation experience.
- Experience managing carrier, broker, and 3PL relationships.
- Demonstrated success negotiating transportation contracts and controlling freight costs.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
- Preferred Experience within fresh food, agriculture, food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or refrigerated distribution.
- Knowledge of cold-chain logistics and perishable goods transportation.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations.
- APICS CSCP, CLTD, or similar supply chain certification.
