Overview
Junior Investment Analyst Jobs in City of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa at Hillingdale Capital
Title: Junior Investment Analyst
Company: Hillingdale Capital
Location: City of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
Hillingdale Capital is a specialist corporate finance advisory firm focused on debt and equity capital raising. Leveraging a strong institutional investor network across Africa and Europe, we connect capital to high-impact opportunities in multiple ESG-aligned sectors.
We offer a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment for professionals passionate about corporate finance, alternative assets and private market investments.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This is a deal-making role. The primary focus is originating private debt and equity transactions — finding companies that need capital, getting in front of them, and converting those conversations into mandates.
The candidate will spend the majority of their time identifying and approaching companies across target sectors, initiating outreach, building relationships with founders and CFOs, and qualifying opportunities for the investment team. AI tools are central to how we work: the candidate will use AI to source leads, research companies, generate outreach, and surface relevant market intelligence — making prospecting faster, smarter, and more scalable.
This is not a back-office or purely analytical position. We are looking for someone who is commercially driven and comfortable picking up the phone, sending a cold email, and pushing a conversation forward. The analytical work — financial screening, preparing deal materials — supports the origination effort, but deals are won through relationships and persistence.
We are looking for someone hungry, commercially minded, and eager to learn the craft of deal origination in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Commercially driven self-starter who is motivated by deal flow and getting in front of companies
- Comfortable with outreach — cold calling, cold emailing, LinkedIn prospecting — and not deterred by rejection
- Confident communicator who can hold a credible conversation with a CEO/CFO or business owner
- Proficient with AI tools and eager to use them as a primary research and productivity layer
- Analytically sound, with the ability to quickly assess whether a company is a viable capital-raising candidate
- Organised and disciplined in managing a pipeline of prospects, conversations, and follow-ups
- Solid understanding of corporate finance, private debt, and equity capital raising
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Originate private debt and equity mandates by identifying and approaching companies seeking capital across target sectors
- Conduct targeted company outreach via calls, emails, and LinkedIn, with the goal of securing meetings and building a live pipeline
- Use AI tools to research companies, identify capital-raising signals, generate outreach content, and surface relevant market intelligence
- Qualify inbound and outbound opportunities through initial financial screening and commercial assessment
- Prepare concise company profiles, deal teasers, and investment summaries to support mandate conversion and investor engagement
- Map and approach relevant institutional investors, family offices, and alternative capital providers for live mandates
- Support the senior investment team across the transaction lifecycle, from origination through to execution and closing
- Maintain and enrich the firm's CRM, tracking outreach activity, meeting outcomes, and pipeline status
