SUMMARY:
Signa Opportunity is recruiting unemployed youth for quality workplace experience through the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.
About the YES Initiative:
The initiative was launched by the President in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labour department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over a period of 12 months.

About The Role

Responsibilities:
- Support the bookkeeping and accounting team with day-to-day financial processing using cloud-based accounting systems.
- Assist with the accurate capture, reconciliation, and maintenance of client financial records.
- Liaise with senior bookkeepers, accountants, and payroll administrators to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
- Communicate with clients on basic information requests, under supervision, in a professional and confidential manner.
- Assist in preparing supporting schedules for management accounts, tax, and compliance work.
- Help maintain organised financial documentation and ensure records meet internal and statutory requirements.
- Adhere to firm policies, deadlines, and quality standards while managing allocated tasks responsibly.
- Take accountability for learning, skill development, and applying feedback to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
- South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
- Matric.
- A completed post-school Accounting Diploma.
- Demonstrates basic numerical accuracy, including ability to work confidently with invoices, receipts, and financial figures.
- Computer Literacy: Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including use of simple formulas (e.g. SUM) and data entry.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions carefully and maintain a high level of accuracy when capturing or reviewing financial data.
- Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and assisted client queries.
- Ability to manage multiple small tasks, meet deadlines, and keep digital records orderly.
- Professional Conduct: Understanding of confidentiality and willingness to comply with ethical and professional standards.
- Willingness to Learn: Positive attitude toward training, feedback, and continuous development in a cloud-based accounting environment.
