SUMMARY:
Join a leading retail business in a high‑growth finance environment at head office level. This role offers hands‑on exposure across reporting, reconciliations, and group finance operations. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated junior accountant looking to build strong technical foundations and grow within a dynamic team.
POSITION INFO:
- Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate financial records
- Prepare monthly financial accounts including bank reconciliations and fixed asset schedules
- Assist with budgeting and financial planning processes
- Monitor cash flow and support timely supplier payments
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions across the business
- Track and reconcile group expenses, including supplier invoices and overhead costs
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions across divisions
- Assist with audit preparation and ensure compliance with financial standards
- Analyse financial data and identify discrepancies or trends
- Work closely with finance and operational teams across the business
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Support general finance administration and ad‑hoc reporting
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 1–3 years’ experience in a finance or accounting environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF
- Experience in accounting systems: Sage, Xero, OR similar
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with ability to work across teams
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proactive mindset with strong problem‑solving ability
Qualification:
- Matric with Mathematics OR Accounting – essential
- Diploma OR Certificate in Accounting – advantageous
