Investment Analyst – Private Equity Jobs in Hamburg, Germany at Albert Cliff Limited

Title: Investment Analyst – Private Equity

Company: Albert Cliff Limited

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Position: Investment Analyst – Special Situations & Corporate Carve-Outs

Firm: Specialized DACH Turnaround & Restructuring Investment Holding

Location: Germany, Hamburg

Overview: Our client is a highly specialized, operationally driven investment holding group dedicated to executing complex special situations, distressed M&A, and corporate carve-outs across the DACH mid-market. The platform acquires non-core corporate orphans, underperforming divisions, and fundamentally sound industrial and B2B manufacturing businesses that are navigating severe operational or capital structure dislocation. Unlike traditional private equity, the firm relies on intense, hands-on operational restructuring to stabilize assets and drive sustainable turnarounds, embracing complexity and asymmetric risk profiles.

To support a highly active deal pipeline, the firm is seeking to appoint an Investment Analyst to its core transaction team. This is an intellectually demanding, high-velocity mandate designed for a rigorous junior banker or restructuring professional. The role requires exceptional raw analytical horsepower, as the successful candidate will be tasked with deconstructing messy financial data, building specialized models from scratch, and supporting senior dealmakers under extreme time constraints and conditions of imperfect information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complex Financial Modeling: Construct and iterate highly specialized financial models tailored to distressed environments. This includes granular 13-week short-term cash flow (TWCF) forecasts, complex working capital bridges, integrated three-statement turnaround models, and liquidation/recovery analyses.
  • Due Diligence & Data Room Management: Take primary ownership of virtual data rooms (VDRs) and the Q&A process. Parse through large volumes of unstructured, incomplete financial data to identify hidden liabilities, unearth working capital "black holes," and assess downside risks.
  • Target Screening & Triage: Actively evaluate inbound distressed teasers and information memorandums from insolvency administrators, restructuring boutiques, and corporate advisory teams. Conduct rapid, initial triage to determine the viability and core asset value of severely distressed targets.
  • Investment Committee Collateral: Support the drafting of highly analytical, institutional-grade investment memorandums. Synthesize complex financial findings and operational bottlenecks into clear, concise narratives for the investment committee.
  • Execution & Portfolio Support: Assist senior team members in navigating DACH insolvency frameworks (e.g., Eigenverwaltung) and structuring asset vs. share deals. Support the internal operational task force by tracking post-close Day-1 cash-preservation measures and restructuring KPIs.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 1 to 2.5 years of highly rigorous, quantitative experience. Candidates must originate from Investment Banking (specifically Restructuring, Distressed M&A, or Leveraged Finance), an elite Restructuring Consultancy, or the Transaction Services / Financial Due Diligence (FDD) team of a Big 4 firm.
  • Technical Raw Horsepower: Exceptional Excel capabilities and an absolute zero-defect mentality. The candidate must be completely comfortable handling incomplete data sets and rapidly building accurate, dynamic models that stress-test extreme downside scenarios.
  • Temperament & DNA: A highly resilient, thick-skinned, and pragmatic junior professional. Thrives in high-pressure, unstructured environments where information is asymmetric. Exhibits a low-ego, "roll-up-your-sleeves" approach to transaction execution.
  • Restructuring Affinity: A demonstrated intellectual curiosity regarding corporate distress, turnaround mechanics, and basic DACH insolvency legal frameworks is highly advantageous.
  • Languages: Absolute, native-level fluency in German is strictly mandatory. The candidate will be analyzing local DACH insolvency documentation and interacting with distressed domestic management teams. Complete professional fluency in English is also required.
  • Education: Outstanding academic credentials from a leading tier-one university in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related quantitative discipline.
