HR Data Insights Analyst Jobs in United States at Yahoo

Title: HR Data Insights Analyst

Company: Yahoo

Location: United States

We are seeking a detail-oriented People Analytics Associate to join our People Analytics team. You will be the engine behind our workforce data, turning raw numbers into meaningful, actionable narratives. This role is perfect for a candidate who is eager to optimize their workflow using AI-assisted tools, thrives on accuracy, and is ready to support executive decision-making by preparing high-quality, data-driven materials. You will act as a key operator for our survey platforms, vendor relationships, and reporting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report Generation & Maintenance: Own the end-to-end production of recurring operational reports (e.g., headcount). Ensure data integrity and timeliness for all scheduled deliveries.
  • Dashboard Development: Audit, build, and maintain interactive dashboards using Workday Discovery Boards and Looker Studio. Translate complex People data into intuitive, self-service visualizations that stakeholders can navigate easily.
  • Data Storytelling: Prepare high-quality slide decks and data summaries for leadership. You will be expected to synthesize complex datasets into clear, concise, and professional presentations that facilitate strategic decision-making.
  • Survey Program Management: Act as the technical lead for our survey platform. You will be responsible for light configuration, running regular survey cycles, and working with the vendor on enhancements and tweaks based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationship with our survey vendor to ensure deliverables, service-level agreements (SLAs), and technical integrations are meeting organizational needs.
  • Insight Generation: Identify trends, anomalies, or correlations in our people data, providing the "why" behind the numbers to support business strategies.
  • Audit & Compliance Stewardship: Serve as a key contributor during internal and external HR audits. You will be responsible for providing accurate, time-stamped data, maintaining clear documentation of report logic (e.g., data lineage), and ensuring all reporting outputs adhere to data privacy and security standards.
  • Data Governance & Integrity: Champion data hygiene. Regularly reconcile data discrepancies between Workday and downstream reporting tools (e.g., Looker) to ensure a "single source of truth," minimizing risks during audit cycles.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Human Resources, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in People Analytics, HR Operations, or a similar data-focused role.
  • AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to write or debug code, summarize qualitative survey feedback, or automate repetitive data synthesis tasks.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets: (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, index/match, etc.).
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Proven experience building dashboards in Looker and Workday Discovery Boards.
  • Presentation Skills: Expert-level PowerPoint/Google Slides skills—you know how to build a deck that is visually polished, logically sound, and executive-ready.
  • Audit & Compliance Mindset: Familiarity with audit processes. You understand that data accuracy is a compliance requirement, and you prioritize "defensible data" in every report you build.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to translate complex report logic into readable documentation that explains how a metric was calculated—essential for maintaining clear audit trails.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SQL (for querying databases directly).
  • Experience analyzing unstructured text data using AI/NLP tools.
  • Deep understanding of HR data structures (Workday HCM data model is a massive plus).
  • A "curiosity gap"—the desire to ask why the data looks the way it does, not just reporting what it says.

Why This Role?

This is a critical role that ensures our data is reliable, timely, and actionable. You will sit at the intersection of systems, surveys, and reporting, gaining a deep understanding of our workforce through data. While this role supports executive-level reporting, it is an execution-focused position that values precision, technical agility, and the ability to build scalable, automated processes. If you are looking to sharpen your analytics and AI-coding skills while building the foundation of our people data strategy, we want to hear from you.
