The Role
Grin is a fast-growing digital health startup transforming patient care through scalable technology. We need a hands-on Controller to own the full finance function—close, audit, billing, revenue recognition, tax, payroll, and FP&A—while serving as a strategic partner to our executive team and Board.
What You’ll Own
- Full-cycle month-end close: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, balance sheet reconciliations, and ASC 606 deferred revenue schedules.
- Accounts payable and receivable: vendor invoice processing via Bill.com, EOM billing for SaaS/per-patient models, and Stripe/ACH reconciliation.
- Annual audit with PwC: PBC schedule preparation, auditor liaison, and financial statement review. Next audit begins May 2026.
- Payroll, tax, and compliance: semi-monthly payroll, multi-state sales tax filings, nexus tracking, 1099s, and federal return coordination.
- FP&A and board reporting: maintain the three-statement model, deliver monthly BvA analysis, track burn rate and runway, and prepare quarterly board materials.
- Cash management and controls: payment execution, credit card reconciliation, segregation of duties, and spend monitoring.
- Process building: design scalable, audit-ready workflows that support rapid growth across all finance functions.
Requirements
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years in accounting/finance; SaaS or digital health experience preferred.
- Deep ASC 606 knowledge and Big Four audit experience.
- Multi-state tax compliance fluency.
- Advanced Excel/financial modeling; proficiency with QuickBooks, Stripe, and Bill.com.
- Comfortable toggling between strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a startup.
