The Head of Cards & Deposits is accountable for the end-to-end strategy, product development, performance, and governance of Boost Bank’s Cards (Debit / Credit) and Deposit products, ensuring sustainable growth in balances, active usage, revenue, and customer satisfaction while meeting all regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements.

This role leads the product vision, roadmap execution, commercial outcomes, and lifecycle management of Cards and Deposits, working closely with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Operations, Marketing, and external partners (e.g. Mastercard/Visa, PayNet, vendors).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and own the strategy and roadmap for:
  • Deposit products (Savings, Jars, Special Campaigns)
  • Cards products (Debit, Virtual Cards, Credit Cards and value-added features)
  • Align product strategy with:
  • Bank growth targets (balances, customers, revenue)
  • ALCO decisions (pricing, interest rates, campaigns)
  • Regulatory expectations (BNM, PayNet, scheme rules)
  • Identify new opportunities in engagement-led deposits, card usage acceleration, and innovative propositions (e.g. daily deals, gamified savings, lifestyle rewards).

2. Product Development & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end product lifecycle:
  • Ideation → Business case → Regulatory submission → Build → Launch → Post-launch optimisation
  • Translate strategy into clear requirements, prioritised backlogs, and delivery milestones
  • Partner with Technology and UX to deliver:
  • Simple, intuitive, and scalable card & deposit experiences
  • High-availability, compliant, and secure solutions
  • Ensure timely launches and continuous enhancement through agile delivery.

3. Commercial & Performance Ownership

  • Own and manage key KPIs, including:
  • Deposit balances, growth rate, attrition
  • Card activation, spend, interchange revenue
  • Campaign ROI and cost of funds
  • Optimise pricing, interest rates, limits, rewards, and campaigns in line with ALCO and market conditions (e.g. BNM OPR movements).
  • Drive profitability while balancing customer value and risk exposure.

4. Regulatory, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with:
  • BNM policies and guidelines
  • PayNet and card scheme (Mastercard/Visa) rules
  • Internal risk, AML/CFT, and RMiT requirements
  • Prepare and present:
  • Product papers
  • Regulatory submissions and notifications
  • Responses to regulators and internal committees (ALCO, MRCC, Exco)
  • Work closely with Risk and Compliance to identify, assess, and mitigate product-related risks.

5. Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Act as the primary product owner for Cards & Deposits across:
  • Internal stakeholders (Tech, Ops, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Marketing)
  • External partners (card schemes, processors, vendors)
  • Manage vendor performance, commercials, and SLAs.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on GTM strategies and campaigns.

6. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Cards & Deposits product team.
  • Set clear objectives, coach product managers, and build domain expertise.
  • Foster a customer-centric, data-driven, and compliant product culture.

Job Requirements & Criteria:

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in banking, fintech, or payments, with:
  • Strong exposure to cards and/or deposit products
  • At least 5 years in a senior product leadership role
  • Proven track record of:
  • Launching and scaling retail banking or card products
  • Managing large balance sheets or high-volume transaction products
  • Experience working with:
  • Card schemes (Mastercard / Visa)
  • PayNet or equivalent payment networks
  • Regulators (BNM or equivalent)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong product strategy and execution capability
  • Deep understanding of:
  • Deposit pricing, interest mechanics, and liquidity considerations
  • Card economics (interchange, scheme fees, rewards)
  • Highly data-driven with strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, regulated, digital-first environment

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Technology, or related field
  • MBA or relevant professional qualification is an advantage
