Duties:
– Oversee the financial wellbeing of the group by managing the full spectrum of finance activities
– Review and interpret monthly management accounts and provide strategic recommendations
– Prepare monthly management packs, year-end packs, and group consolidations
– Ensure compliance with accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and IFRS standards
– Provide technical support and guidance to Finance Heads within the group
– Analyse financial performance, identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvement
– Assist with strategic planning and financial analysis
– Establish financial and operational strategies by analysing trends and performance indicators
– Review and sign off journals and oversee general ledger reconciliations
– Manage treasury functions and banking profiles
– Prepare annual financial statements and tax calculations
– Ensure the implementation and monitoring of internal controls and corporate governance frameworks
– Lead budgeting and forecasting processes across the group
– Support automation initiatives and financial system implementations (e.g., Power BI and consolidation tools)
– Provide support on projects, financial modelling, and ad-hoc requests from the CFO
Job Experience &
Skills Required:
Qualifications:
– Matric (Grade 12)
– BCom Accounting
– BCom Honours
– CA(SA) qualification is essential
Experience:
– Completed SAICA Articles
– Minimum 5 years post-articles experience in a Finance Manager, Group Accountant, or similar role
– Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African financial regulations
– Proven experience with group consolidations and financial reporting
– Knowledge of income tax, deferred tax, and share-based payments
– Solid understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and internal controls
– Exposure to treasury and hedging instruments (e.g., FECs)
– Understanding of VAT, imports, and exports
– Strong Excel and financial systems experience
