Fractional CFO Jobs in United States at High Point Advisory Group

Title: Fractional CFO

Company: High Point Advisory Group

Location: United States

About Us

High Point is a fast-growing financial and strategic advisory firm supporting lower middle market businesses, private equity firms, family offices, and real estate investment platforms through every stage of the business lifecycle. Our services include full-service managerial accounting, outsourced controllership, buy-side and sell-side M&A advisory, financial clean-up, transaction readiness, and CFO-level strategic support.

Whether our clients are preparing to raise capital, optimize portfolios, or navigate complex transitions, we help drive clarity, performance, and results by combining Big 4 expertise with operator practicality.

The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to lead high-impact financial engagements across a diverse client base. This is a client-facing, advisory role focused on delivering executive-level financial leadership without the need for full-time, in-house resources.

Ideal candidates will have a strong command of capital structure, financial operations, and strategic planning, paired with hands-on experience leading capital raises, M&A transactions, and due diligence efforts. Experience with portfolio management, investor reporting, and transaction support — particularly in real estate or capital markets environments — is highly valued.

You’ll collaborate with founders, CEOs, and investor groups to provide insight, structure, and execution across a range of strategic finance needs. You will also oversee and mentor accounting and finance teams across your client engagements, ensuring accurate reporting, scalable systems, and aligned financial operations.

Why This Role Matters

As a Fractional CFO with High Point, you’ll shape the financial direction of multiple growth-oriented companies simultaneously — helping business owners and investors make better, faster, and more confident decisions. You’ll bridge the gap between institutional-quality finance and operator-level action, creating lasting value for clients navigating transactions, expansion, and transformation.

Key Responsibilities

•     Serve as outsourced CFO for a portfolio of clients (investor-backed, family-owned, or real estate-focused)

•     Lead transaction readiness, due diligence support, and capital raise execution across client engagements — including QofE coordination, lender and investor materials, data room management, and deal-team quarterbacking

•     Advise on capital markets strategy: debt/equity structuring, refinancing, recapitalizations, and lender negotiations

•     Lead and manage accounting and finance teams (internal and client-side) to ensure operational excellence and financial accuracy

•     Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and long-range financial planning

•     Analyze and optimize asset or business unit portfolios to improve performance and ROIC

•     Provide monthly and quarterly financial reporting with board-ready and investor-ready analysis

•     Support M&A transactions, exit planning, and capital raises end-to-end — from initial positioning through close and post-transaction integration

•     Develop and implement dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools tailored to business goals

•     Build trusted relationships with founders, boards, lenders, and investors through strategic insight and clear communication

What We’re Looking For

•     12+ years of progressive finance experience, with a track record that combines Big 4 audit/transaction services or investment banking with senior in-house finance leadership

•     5+ years in a CFO, VP Finance, or Head of FP&A role at a PE-backed, family-owned, or real estate operating company (fractional or full-time)

•     Demonstrated experience leading capital raises (equity, debt, mezzanine, or preferred) totaling $25M+, including drafting investor materials, managing data rooms, and negotiating term sheets

•     Hands-on M&A experience on both sides of the table — sell-side prep and positioning, buy-side diligence, QofE coordination, working capital negotiation, and post-close integration

•     Experience leading or supporting financial, tax, and operational due diligence — including building diligence response packages, managing Q&A trackers, and remediating findings before going to market

•     Strong command of three-statement modeling, LBO and returns analysis, waterfall structures, and scenario/sensitivity modeling

•     Proven ability to step into messy financial environments and drive clean-up, accounting remediation, and audit readiness

•     Direct experience presenting to boards, lenders, LPs, and institutional investors

•     Strong communication skills and executive presence

•     CPA strongly preferred; MBA, CFA, or comparable credential a plus

Deal & Capital Experience

•     Has personally led or quarterbacked at least 2–3 closed transactions (M&A, recapitalization, refinancing, or capital raise)

•     Comfortable owning the lender or investor relationship end-to-end — from initial outreach through closing and ongoing covenant reporting

•     Familiar with quality of earnings, net working capital pegs, and purchase price adjustment mechanics

•     Experience with carve-outs, roll-ups, or multi-entity consolidations a strong plus

Bonus Points For

•     Experience in real estate investment, development, or asset management

•     Familiarity with Yardi, AppFolio, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other finance platforms

•     Background in treasury management or debt covenant monitoring

•     Prior work with family offices or multi-entity business groups

•     Experience standing up or scaling a finance function in a high-growth or post-transaction environment

•     Track record managing lender relationships and complex debt covenants across multiple facilities

•     Familiarity with fund-level reporting, GP/LP economics, or promote/waterfall calculations

•     Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools paired with the ERP systems above

Growth Potential

This position offers significant opportunity to grow within High Point’s expanding CFO practice. High performers will have the chance to lead larger portfolios, develop internal frameworks, mentor upcoming finance leaders, and influence the direction of a high-growth advisory firm.
