Financial Support Specialist

Responsible for delivering a professional service that helps our customers solve their problems.

This is a customer centric role with a strong focus on Portfolio Management and internal and external stakeholder engagement with a view to assist customers in times of financial difficulty whilst ensuring a fair financial return and sustainable agreements for the business. A Financial Support Specialist is responsible for delivering a professional service that helps our customers solve their problems, and by doing so, creates a favorable opinion of our organization and an increased willingness to repay their commitments. The job holder is required to adhere to all regulatory requirements and Collections/Recoveries policies and procedures.

Contact with customers is made via phone calls and face to face meetings. When the Bank decides to proceed with legal action, the job holder will be expected to represent the Bank at court and attend judicial sales sitting.

The role offers an opportunity to grow and learn multiple skills and enhance experience in an ever changing and evolving financial scenario. This 5-day week role is based in Xewkija Goza, however we may consider opening in Malta instead, with the option for hybrid working subject to business needs.

In this role you will:

  • Monitor a portfolio of customers within the Collections &/or Recoveries section for accounts (secured & unsecured) which fall in arrears and written off accounts in relation to personal portfolios
  • Build internal and external relationships to deliver high quality customer experience by providing appropriate solutions and services
  • Ensure that customer contact (internal/external) both via telephone and/or written is handled in a timely manner while taking decisions on action to be taken to regularise delinquent accounts/problematic customers
  • Work closely with our Legal Department to ensure that all legal processes are properly adhered to (including taking affidavits where necessary) and represent the Bank in court for Customers under the Recoveries/Collections portfolio when necessary
  • Provide our customers, the confidence that HSBC understands their specific situation and concerns and is committed to delivering fair outcomes
  • Ensure that retail collections policies and Bank’s policies are adhered to and assisting in other day to day tasks &/or ad-hoc projects

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Problem Solving and Critical Thinking skills
  • Excellent team player with a positive attitude and eager to embrace change
  • Assertive while maintain a Cordial and calm disposition, capable of working under pressure
  • Willing to learn and seek learning opportunities to develop skillset within role
  • Must be fluent in speaking the Maltese language
  • 4 o-level passes or equivalent

Other information

This role is on a full-time basis, vacancy is in Gozo however we may consider opening in Malta instead. This role offers the opportunity for flexible working.
