The Role

Our client is seeking a Financial Regulatory Reporting in the Banking division.

Job Description

Role overview:

  • Preparation of various statutory returns as well as compulsory surveys for client as requested and demanded by local authority – Hong Kong Monetary Authority ("HKMA") regularly and from time to time independently and comply with regulatory requirements & internal guidelines.
  • Preparation of Granular Data Reporting (GDR).
  • Analyze the latest changes in rules and regulations and implement the necessary system or procedural changes to meet the changing requirements.
  • This involves:

(a) ensuring compliance with local regulations and legislation for Tax, Legal and with Group regulations defined in policies, procedures, rules and standards, with a particular focus on first level Permanent Control; and

(b) ensuring regulatory reporting is prepared accurately and delivered on a timely basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory reporting:

  • Prepare HKMA returns / surveys, liquidity ratios (LMR/CFR) and GDR report
  • Perform financial analysis on key variations
  • Providing information to HKMA for queries on regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Update quick map tables for FLEXEL GDR reports to maintain any changes.
  • Perform controls on FLEXEL reports.
  • Perform UAT for any changes to FLEXEL system or reporting system.
  • Support ad hoc process improvement and other projects assigned by the team head.

Policy Maintenance and System Development:

  • Ensure procedure manuals are updated and system implemented meets local regulatory reporting requirement.

Financial Controls:

  • Ensures first level controls on local regulatory reporting are properly performed.

Other duties:

  • Assists in banking returns audit under section 63(3) and 63(3A) of Banking Ordinance. Provide return preparation walkthrough with auditor during audit review.
  • Assists in provision of internal data / management report to senior management / other stakeholders.
  • Work with project teams to identify the project needs and deliverables in alignment with overall Group program objective.
  • Be responsible for performing regulatory reporting control assessments and enhancement as well as preparing required documentation.
  • Ensures audit recommendations are resolved within the specific timeline.
  • Assist the BCP Drill. o Administration tasks for department.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the current HKMA reporting requirements (including liquidity returns).
  • Exposure to different banking products (GM, GB, WM, etc).
  • Strong accounting knowledge.
  • Control oriented mindset.
  • Creativity & Innovation/Problem Solving.
  • Strong analytical and ability to synthesize and simplify.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment.
  • Collaborative.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a deadline intensive environment and work under pressure.
  • Ability to lead and drive initiatives with a structured and focused approach.
  • Change Management & Project Management skills is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Excel (VBA, Power BI etc.).
  • CPA along with a relevant degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in regulatory reporting in banking or experience in banking returns audit.
  • Experience in return automation projects such as workflow re-engineering / streamline existing process is an advantage.
  • Skilled in data extraction and analysis.
  • Fluency in English.
