As a Financial Planner , you will focus on developing and deepening mass affluent client relationships by providing high‑quality advice and service. You will build and leverage external and internal networks to grow a practice of building new and long‑term relationships.
Responsibilities
- Engage in proactive client outreach to individuals outside the Scotiabank network, showcasing the unique value a Financial Planner brings to their financial journey.
- Deepen client relationships by identifying and engaging with existing Scotiabank clients who may have limited interaction with the bank.
- Drive investment sales and new client acquisition, while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Establish business development opportunities with prospects and clients within the assigned market area.
- Promote the development and sustainable growth of proprietary investment business in the assigned market area through business development plans, client‑centric investment solutions, community involvement and local events.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
- Mutual fund certified professional with current accreditation and good standing for CIRO licensing requirements.
- Completed a Personal Financial Planning (PFP®) designation and/or a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
- Proven networking, client acquisition and interpersonal skills with experience building and maintaining Centres of Influence (COIs).
- Goal‑oriented and entrepreneurial, able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team.
- Extensive knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions and the regulatory environment.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to meet clients and prospects within the designated district.

Other stream to our financial planning advice lies within the Canadian Retail Banking Division. The role is called Financial Advisor, Investment & Retirement (FAIR).
The compensation structure for this role is base plus variable pay. This is a mobile role and will require frequent travel.
