DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Our client is an international retail group and a long-term operator of a globally recognised consumer brand in Lithuania. With a strong local footprint and backing from an international group, the company combines high operational standards with a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

The company is now looking for a Director of Finance to lead the finance function in Lithuania and act as a strategic partner to the Managing Director and local leadership team. The role is focused on profitable growth, cost optimisation and providing reliable, timely financial data to support decision-making.

This person will be the key finance leader in the country – ensuring smooth daily operations of the Finance Department, working closely with the Managing Director on all financial matters, and providing commercial and marketing insights to help the business grow in a smart, sustainable way.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the finance function in Lithuania, acting as a strategic partner to the Managing Director and Group Finance, and contributing to profitable growth, cost optimisation and overall business performance.
  • Own the budgeting, forecasting and planning process and provide regular performance reports with clear commentary on variances and recommended actions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely management reporting, statutory reporting and tax compliance, including month-end closing, account reconciliations and maintenance of accruals, provisions and capex records.
  • Manage cash flow, payroll and payments, ensuring that revenues and costs are properly recorded and financial controls are in place and followed.
  • Lead and develop the local finance/accounting team, ensuring effective processes, clear responsibilities and high service quality to the business.
  • Act as a key business partner to the management team, providing financial and commercial insights to support operational, investment and marketing decisions.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external partners and ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements and local regulations.
  • Support the effective use and development of financial systems and tools to improve the quality, speed and transparency of financial information.

Required experience and qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics (Bachelor’s or Master’s level) and local accountancy certification/licence.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a similar finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of Lithuanian fiscal, taxation, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements, with a solid understanding of the local business environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Lithuanian and English.
  • Corporate experience in the retail and/or manufacturing industry and a background in working with international teams would be a strong advantage.
