We are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to build the finance function from scratch in Romania within a fast-scaling D2C e‑commerce business.
Key responsibilities:
Key responsibilities
- Support and deliver month-end close and management reporting
- Prepare management accounts, variance analysis, and commentary
- Ensure accuracy of financial records (Romanian regulations + IFRS / UK GAAP alignment)
- Maintain balance sheet integrity and reconciliations
- Track and report on key business and D2C KPIs
- Support cashflow forecasting and working capital monitoring
- Monitor AR/AP and liquidity
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Support statutory reporting, audits, and local compliance
- Help improve finance processes and basic controls as the business scales
Profile:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Financial Controller or senior accounting role
- Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting and tax
- Advanced Excel and systems skills
- Good understanding of D2C metrics (CAC, LTV, ROAS, margins)
- Experience working with Shopify / Trendyol data
- Comfortable working hands-on and dealing with incomplete or imperfect data
- Fluent Romanian and English
