Financial Controller Jobs in Kuwait City, Al Asimah, Kuwait at USim

Title: Financial Controller

Company: USim

Location: Kuwait City, Al Asimah, Kuwait

About USim

USim is one of the leading travel eSIM platforms in the GCC, helping travelers stay connected instantly in more than 200 destinations worldwide. We operate at the intersection of telecom, travel, and technology. This is not a traditional corporate role. You will work across multiple departments, interact directly with founders, and contribute to high-impact projects from day one.

Role Overview

The Financial Controller will own USim’s financial control environment and reporting cadence, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and actionable insights for fast, founder-led decision making. You will partner closely with the founders, executives such as commercial, product, operations to strengthen processes, improve unit-economics visibility, and support growth across GCC and global travel corridors.

What You’ll Be Doing

– Own the month-end close process end-to-end (timeline, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and review) and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.

– Maintain strong financial controls (AP/AR, cash management, approvals, and segregation of duties) and continuously improve policies and documentation.

– Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, translating results into clear narratives and recommendations for leadership.

– Produce management reporting (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, KPI dashboards) with a focus on unit economics, margin, and working capital.

– Manage statutory compliance: tax filings (as applicable), audits, and coordination with external auditors/advisors across relevant jurisdictions.

– Oversee payroll and employee expense processes, ensuring accuracy and policy adherence.

– Partner with commercial and ops teams on pricing, supplier contracts, and revenue recognition considerations where needed.

– Support finance automation and systems improvements (e.g., accounting tools, integrations, data hygiene) to reduce manual work and increase visibility.

– Contribute to special projects such as fundraising readiness, governance reporting, and strategic initiatives.

What You'll Need

– 5+ years of progressive accounting/controllership experience (startup or high-growth environment is a plus).

– Strong command of accounting fundamentals (IFRS preferred; GAAP acceptable with demonstrated IFRS fluency) and internal controls.

– Experience owning month-end close, reconciliations, and preparing management financial statements.

– Hands-on proficiency with accounting systems (Xero is a plus) and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.

– Ability to work independently, prioritize in a fast-moving environment, and communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders.

– High attention to detail and integrity; comfortable being accountable for accuracy.

– Experience working with external auditors/tax advisors and managing compliance deliverables.

What You’ll Gain

– Direct exposure to founders and leadership decisions in a high-impact, non-corporate environment.

– Ownership and autonomy to build a scalable finance function and control framework.

– The opportunity to work at the intersection of telecom, travel, and technology with global reach.

– A fast learning curve across strategy, operations, and commercial levers—beyond traditional accounting scope.

– Competitive compensation package (based on experience) and strong growth trajectory.
