Our client, a manufacturing organization, is seeking a Controller to oversee financial, accounting, and cost accounting functions. This is a hands-on, working leadership role ideal for a finance leader who is comfortable both managing the details and mentoring a team.
The Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, supporting operational decision-making, and providing financial analysis to help drive business performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the full accounting process and the ability to assess, map, and improve workflow while effectively supporting and developing the accounting team.
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Office Setting: On-site career opportunity
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Compensation: $120,000–$165,000 + annual bonus opportunity

Key Responsibilities
The Controller will partner closely with Operations, Corporate Finance, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, audits, compliance, process improvement, and team leadership.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee financial reporting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal controls
- Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and mentoring to accounting-related team members
- Evaluate accounting processes, map workflow, identify gaps, and implement improvements to better support the team and business
- Partner with Operations to maintain accurate costing procedures and analyze key cost drivers, including purchasing, labor, and overhead
- Support monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and operational financial planning
- Lead internal and external audits of financial records and internal controls
- Manage regulatory compliance matters and support treasury-related responsibilities
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance on accounting policies, special projects, and process improvements
- Provide financial reporting and analysis to support department leaders and senior management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading financial teams
- Cost accounting experience
- Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle and accounting workflow
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing business conditions
Preferred qualifications include
- CMA or CPA
