The opportunity

This position reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting with working level supervision provided primarily by the Team Lead, Financial Reporting – Financial Performance, MD&A and Disclosures.

As a member of the Financial Reporting team, this position assists in the preparation of accurate financial information and activities that support the communication of accurate and timely financial results..

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to the compilation and coordination of the Quarterly and Annual Management’s Discussion & Analysis (MD&A)
  • Assist in the preparation of the MD&A and Financial Statement support schedules and coordinate with Business units on analysis, including responding to the requirements of external auditors with respect to accounting and reporting issues
  • Reconcile and prepare working paper support; working closely with the Business units
  • Assist in the compilation of Pension Plan financial statements and Statistics Canada reports
  • Analyze financial information and/or accounting processes
  • Develop and maintain Excel models used to support accounting, reporting and compliance requirements
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices
  • Other ad hoc projects and analysis as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive, related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Keen attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement
  • Strong financial analysis, reporting and communication skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities and minimal supervision
  • Proven team player, successful in developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, with ability to optimize Excel models
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP or other recognized accounting standards
  • Experience working with SAP, BPC, Workiva, SharePoint, Teams and/or Power BI considered an asset
