Using that foundation, it has evolved into a consulting firm for entrepreneurs, offering advisory and financial support to high growth and start-up businesses. Most recently the business has expanded its financial advisory arm and is looking to grow this further in the coming years.

Role: Analyst – CFO Advisory (Decision Support & Planning)

This role requires an individual who has an in-depth knowledge of accounting and an advanced excel skill. You will work closely with the CFO Advisory Team to maintain our clients’ decision support models, provide accounting expertise, and help with supervising monthly reporting processes.

Direct reporting lines to the Partners and Manager – Decision Support and Planning.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Accounting

  • Perform high level reviews of clients’ accounting records and determine an approach to help resolve inconsistencies and apply best practice to ensure an accurate forecast.
  • Develop new charts of accounts in the budget process and agree with the owner – to then help adopt them, utilising the off-shore team and helping implement.
  • Work alongside the CFO Advisory  team and external accountants to ensure that compliance issues are dealt with and taxable outcomes are built into forecasts and planning.

Reporting

  • Review the work of client’s internal teams, or of the CFO Advisory  team, to ensure that financial accounts are up to standard as they are used in the forecast.
  • Use interesting software to deliver meaningful reporting to clients (currently Fathom).
  • Learn from the reporting to improve the forecasting and decision support process.
  • Meet client deadlines and arrange resources to suit.

Forecast and Budget

  • Work closely with the business owner and Partner to assist in financial models update on a timely basis.
  • Ensure the forecast aligns with business KPIs and objectives, that are also non-financial in nature.
  • Create an annual forecast calendar and run the process of reforecast activities throughout the period to ensure that the forecast evolves over time, for each client.
  • Measure back and present meaningful analysis, find out why.
  • Provide insights and tools to support business decisions and investigate the use of new tools and software in this space.

Desired Skills and Experience:

The Company is looking for an entrepreneurial, dynamic individual, with the following skills and experience:

  • Advanced level of Microsoft Excel
  • Relevant university degree (Major in Accountancy)
  • End to End accounting experience, past roles in financial and/or management accounting.
  • Experience in AU accounting, preferred
  • CPA, preferred
  • Strong use of cloud-based systems  (specifically, Xero and Fathom) and curiosity in the space.
  • Excellent communicator and analytical thinker, with an ability to use data to inform all decisions 
  • High level of flexibility and a positive approach to the challenging demands of a high-growth start-up
  • Works methodically and demonstrates respect for process adherence, whilst continuously seeking opportunities to improve the status quo
  • Works to an extremely high level of attention to detail and demonstrates a passion for excellence
