| Job Purpose

The Financial Accountant is responsible for the transactional integrity of IA, encompassing primary ownership of the general and subsidiary ledgers, external reporting, statutory compliance, payroll and ensuring the integrity of data for management reporting.

| Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of annual cashflow and daily bank reconciliation
  • Assisting in the preparation of budget and forecasting
  • Assist with the management of bank guarantees and bank account tasks
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the management of all annual insurance and workers compensation
  • Manage and deliver the monthly payroll process, super and PAYG
  • Manage payroll tax, end of year payroll tax reconciliation, and year end STP finalisation
  • Preparing monthly balance sheet recs (preparing month end/year end reporting, consolidated statement and board pack)
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the liaison with tax accountants and banker on various items
  • Oversee and execute the project and overhead expenses, as well as manage the Xero expense payment process.
  • Management of AP and payment of AP runs
  • Preparation of annual reconciliation for year-end (payroll and company) board reports
  • Train and coach the Assistant Accountants
  • Other finance or HR tasks as directed
  • Adhoc reporting for leadership team

Monthly/Annually

  • Preparation, calculation and payments of all business taxes – BAS, corporate and personal PAYG, Workers Compensation, Payroll Tax, and GST
  • Month end processes – completion of the monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules, reconciliation of general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, WIP and related subsidiary ledgers
  • Month-end reporting – responsible for preparation and delivery of month-end financial reports
  • Preparation, calculation and payment for monthly payroll (Employment Hero) – superannuation commitments are met, any salary sacrifice items are correctly costed
  • Monthly review of Profit and Loss summary while examining and maintaining internal controls
  • Assist AP on resolving AP inquiries/issues

| Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
  • Working towards a professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other financial software and tools for reporting and analysis purposes
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Process and deadline driven mindset with a keen eye for detail
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong personal integrity, credibility and ability to work collaboratively in a values-driven organisation.
