About this role . . .

We are seeking a commercially astute and detail-driven Financial Accountant to join our high-performance finance function. This role is mission-critical to the integrity of our financial reporting, balance sheet governance, compliance obligations, and month-end execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end month-end close including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain full General Ledger integrity including intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
  • Prepare daily and monthly journals and ensure all accounting deadlines are met without compromise.
  • Assist in preparation and finalization of monthly financial and management reports.
  • Own Fixed Asset Register including capitalization, depreciation and disposals.
  • Monthly Bank Reconciliation
  • Provide end-to-end backup support for the Accounts Payable function, ensuring continuity of the AP automation process during periods when the Accounts Payable Officer is unavailable
  • Support statutory compliance including preparation and weekly/monthly payment set up of BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation, Superannuation and industry levies
  • Partner with Project Management on progress claims and monthly client billings.
  • Support preparation of BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT and Workers Compensation for Financial Controller review.
  • Maintain and update ERP reference data and security set up including new users, role variations.
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, controls and processes including ERP upgrades.
  • Support automation, reporting and controls uplift initiatives across the finance function.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification preferred
  • 5–7 years’ experience in a full-function Financial Accounting role
  • Experience supporting Australian businesses highly regarded
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards
  • Advanced Excel capability (pivots, lookups, conditional logic)
  • Experience with Tier 2 ERP, Business Intelligence (BI) platforms and AP automation system (Dynamics, JET Reports, Power BI, KOFAX or similar)
  • Construction, civil or services industry experience highly advantage
