A Private Equity–backed fintech business with c.£6m revenue is seeking an immediately available Financial Accountant to support its finance function during a critical period of operational stabilisation and turnaround.
The business is currently working through a period of significant finance turnaround the organisation is now focused on stabilising Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliation processes as a priority.
Reporting directly into the CFO, this role will provide essential hands-on support to restore control, accuracy, and consistency across day-to-day finance operations. The wider finance team is currently focused on management accounts production, FP&A build-out, and implementation of a new ERP system, creating a clear requirement for dedicated operational finance support.
This is a highly execution-focused role in a fast-moving and constrained environment. The successful candidate will be expected to quickly identify and resolve issues across AP/AR and reconciliations, support remediation activity, and help re-establish robust financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of core operational finance activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation issues across bank and balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Monitor and support supplier payment processes, ensuring payment runs are accurate, controlled, and appropriately prioritised.
- Support cash collection activity, working closely with AR to reduce overdue balances and improve cash flow visibility.
- Diagnose breakdowns within AP/AR processes and support implementation of practical remediation actions.
- Assist in clearing backlog transactions following recent system access restoration.
- Ensure accurate and timely posting of financial transactions across operational finance processes.
- Support strengthening of basic financial controls across AP, AR, and reconciliations.
- Provide hands-on support to maintain continuity of finance operations during a period of system and organisational transition.
Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience within Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable functions.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve operational finance issues, including supplier and payment discrepancies.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-pressure, and lightly structured environments.
- Strong attention to detail with a delivery-focused mindset.
- Able to work independently and prioritise effectively.
- Immediately available and able to commit to an onsite-heavy working pattern (3 days per week in London).
