We are seeking experienced and motivated Finance Officers to join various teams in our ATO Finance Business line.

As a Finance Officer, you will undertake a range of complex financial management and/or tax technical accounting activities providing professional support to business areas. You’ll analyse financial and/or taxation data to identify issues, risks and opportunities, develop practical solutions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment and ensure work is delivered accurately and on time, while also supporting the development of staff.

You will apply strong technical expertise and financial governance knowledge to build effective relationships and translate complex information into clear, practical advice that supports informed decision making.

In addition to these common expectations, specific duties and focus areas vary across ATO Finance and opportunities may be available across a range of functions including:

Finance Service Delivery

You will provide financial management and/or banking services to business areas, delivering professional, timely and practical advice that supports effective resource management and informed decision-making.

You will build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, strengthen financial capability across the business, and support financial governance and risk management outcomes.

You will work in a business partnering environment that requires strong communication and influencing skills, and you will translate complex financial information into clear, actionable advice that supports delivery of our core business.

Corporate Budgeting and Financial Reporting

You will contribute to our strategic budget management and corporate financial reporting activities, supporting whole-of-organisation planning and accountability.

You will undertake forecasting, variance analysis and monitoring of actuals and facilitate internal budget allocations to support the organisational priorities.

You will provide strategic, analysis, resource allocation advice and input into government‑level decision‑making, including contributions to federal budget process.

Corporate Services, Systems and Tax Management

You will provide tax technical and financial advice to support informed decision-making and assist Managers and Directors in managing our tax obligations.

You will use financial management and accounting systems to generate insights and support accurate reporting analysis.

You will liaise with colleagues and external agencies on tax and finance processes, analyse financial data to identify issues and contribute to solving problems and improving systems and processes.

These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Albury, Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Melbourne CBD, Sydney CBD or Upper Mount Gravatt.
