Our Philippines office plays a key role in supporting regional finance operations across Southeast Asia. We are now seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join the team.

 

The Finance Manager will report directly to the Southeast Asia Managing Director (Singapore), with functional oversight from the Group Finance team in the UK. The role will lead a team of two accounting staff in the Philippines, and take responsibility for finance operations across six Southeast Asian markets: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Core accounting functions, including bookkeeping and management reporting, are managed in-house, while certain statutory and compliance activities (particularly outside the Philippines) are outsourced. The Finance Manager will oversee these activities across all territories and work closely with the country Managing Directors to ensure consistent, compliant and efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

1) Accounting & Finance

  • Manage daily bank operations
  • Monitor and manage staff monthly expenses and reimbursements
  • Monitor and manage expenditure within the allotted budget
  • Prepare and report monthly management accounts to local management and Group Finance by the 7th of each month
  • Coordinate with external accountants on GST/VAT, corporate income tax filings and statutory audits
  • Prepare annual budget and quarterly forecast
  • Provide financial business partnering support to the Managing Director
  • Liaise with head office and external auditors on the annual group audit and prepare supporting documents
  • Assist in implementing standard accounting policies
  • Ensure the maintenance of all financial records from bookkeeping to trial balance and reporting.
  • Manage an appropriate internal control and reconciliation environment
  • Manage credit control directly with clients and escalate to management as appropriate
  • Report weekly cash flow to head office

2) HR and Payroll Administration

  • Oversee payroll, withholding tax filings, and staff year-end tax settlement (with support of outsource payroll providers in some countries)
  • Support staff onboarding, offboarding, benefit enrollment
  • Support annual renewal of health insurance
  • Handle staff queries with regard to salaries
  • Be aware of broad changes to relevant labour laws and make sure the offices are compliant

 

3) Corporate Governance & Office Oversight

  • Support country Managing Directors on office lease administration, including coordination with building management offices, monitoring lease renewals, payments and maintenance matters, and assisting with office relocations where required
  • Ensure company statutory information/files are maintained
  • Arrange and coordinate annual board meetings (or as required) 

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ accounting experience covering multi-country operations within Southeast Asia
  • Experience within the finance team of a professional services or consulting organisation preferred
  • Relevant accounting experience in a global SME environment
  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA or equivalent)
  • Experience using NetSuite
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and administrative management practices
  • Knowledge of office management responsibilities, systems and procedures
  • At least 5 years’ line management experience overseeing a small finance team
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Willingness to work flexibly around key reporting deadlines and participate in occasional calls outside normal working hours due to time zone differences
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and spoken)
