Purpose of the role

The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing financial control operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining strong cash flow management, and driving compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Key Performance Areas

Financial Reporting & Close Management

  • Oversee month‑end close processes across entities
  • Review and approve general ledger postings
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure completeness and sign‑off
  • Coordinate intercompany journals to ensure intercompany balances align
  • Manage the submission of working papers to the auditors
  • Track, resolve, and close out audit findings
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data
  • Collaborate with IT teams to maintain and improve system functionality

Treasury, Cash Flow, Funding & Banking Management

  • Review and maintain short‑, medium‑, and long‑term cash flow forecasts
  • Monitor daily liquidity and ensure optimal cash planning
  • Manage fund movements, facilitate drawdowns and repayments on funding facilities
  • Calculate and manage group interest accruals and payments
  • Perform quarterly funding reconciliations and ensure timely interest payments
  • Ensure compliance lender requirements and reporting
  • Liaise with banks to ensure accurate billing, accruals, and payment timing
  • Manage banking platform access, user profiles, and approval matrices

Payments & Expense management

  • Manage the payments’ function including creditors and all expense claims and credit cards
  • Ensure all approvals are received and documented
  • Oversee accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of disbursement

Regulatory, Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Submit regulatory reporting (including NCR reporting)
  • Coordinate quarterly tax filings (MUR) with tax advisors
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and lender requirements
  • Oversee statutory annual financial statements for multiple legal entities (6+ companies)
  • Coordinate with compilers and auditors to achieve statutory sign‑off deadlines

Financial Controls & Governance

  • Manage internal and external audit processes end‑to‑end
  • Provide accurate documentation of processes, controls, and financial data
  • Maintain and enhance the financial control framework
  • Ensure strong internal controls across financial processes
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies and external requirements
  • Support governance processes related to funding, dividends, and approvals

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, manage, and develop the finance team
  • Set team KPIs and performance objectives
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance

Ad Hoc & Project Responsibilities

  • Manage group dividend processes
  • Support treasury and funding strategy development
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
  • Implementation of improvements of finance systems (ERP, reporting tools)
  • Lead or support special projects and process improvements

Qualifications & Accreditations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA) – 3 years post qualification experience

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as within financial services environment
  • Strong experience in financial reporting and cash flow management
  • Experience with audits and regulatory compliance
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with financial systems (ERP, Hyperion)
