SUMMARY:
An established financial services institution is seeking a Finance Manager to join their finance team. This role offers strong ownership and visibility within the business and is suited to someone with solid banking finance experience, particularly in management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and stakeholder engagement.
This is a demanding but highly rewarding role for a detail-oriented and disciplined professional who enjoys both operational finance delivery and business partnering. POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities
Divisional Financial Reporting & Business Partnering (±30%)
- Prepare monthly management information and reporting packs for multiple lending divisions, including home loans, business loans, and specialised lending.
- Finalise monthly trial balances per division.
- Track and analyse key financial drivers to support internal and external reporting.
- Engage with business units to obtain weekly and monthly cashflow forecasts for ALCO reporting and long-term planning.
- Work closely with risk and IFRS9 specialists to review and challenge impairment reporting.
- Represent finance in monthly operational meetings with product divisions.
- Coordinate divisional budgets and forecasts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections.
- Manage external reporting requirements, including input into annual financial statements and regulatory reporting.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audit queries related to divisional reporting.
- Review the work of a junior team member, including journals, transactions, and amortisation schedules.
Management Reporting & Month-End Process (±30%)
- Coordinate and project manage the monthly management accounts and financial reporting cycle.
- Ensure financial controls are maintained and reporting outputs meet stakeholder requirements.
- Act as the first level of review, checking and challenging financial results and variances.
- Coordinate month-end reporting processes including income statement reviews, tax calculation review, and executive reporting.
- Analyse and investigate material variances against prior periods, budgets, and forecasts.
- Finalise month-end processes and ensure cut-off integrity and data accuracy.
- Maintain reporting structures including consolidation files, divisional roll-ups, and GL structure updates.
- Serve as the primary finance contact for reporting-related audit queries.
- Support the annual internal audit process for financial controls.
Budgeting & Strategic Forecasting (±40%)
- Take ownership of the annual budget and 5-year strategic forecast process across all divisions.
- Project manage the collection, consolidation, and review of divisional budgets and forecasts.
- Establish timelines, templates, and deliverables for business units participating in the budgeting process.
- Track submissions, follow up on deadlines, and ensure quality and consistency of financial data.
- Review divisional submissions and challenge assumptions where required.
- Participate in divisional and board-level budget discussions.
- Consolidate all divisional information into a group-level budget and forecasting pack.
- Maintain version control across all submissions.
- Ensure budgets are accurately captured within financial systems and validated by relevant stakeholders.
Non-Negotiables
- BCom Honours in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within the banking industry.
- Proven experience in management reporting and coordinating financial month-end processes.
- Hands-on exposure to budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting pack preparation for senior stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse complex financial information and summarise insights for executive reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, deadline management, and analytical capability.
Advantageous
- Exposure to IFRS9 impairment reporting.
- Experience with Pastel Evolution.
