Job Summary:
To lead and manage the finance function of the company with a focus on maintaining effective financial controls, delivering timely and accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards, and supporting risk and compliance management to drive financial efficiency, effectiveness, and governance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
A. Accounting and Financial Management
- Oversee the entire finance and accounting function to ensure alignment with company goals, internal controls, and financial governance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and the Companies Act, including full compliance with the Malaysian regulatory framework and Company policies.
- Manage financial reporting processes, including monthly and quarterly performance reporting for BOD and senior management.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements such as P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Administer day-to-day accounting operations including but not limited to journal entries, reclassifications, accruals, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to guide operational efficiency and resource optimization.
- Manage company's budget utilization to ensure the most effective and efficient use financial resources.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data through robust internal controls and audit readiness.
- Monitor cash flow and maintain sufficient working capital, including managing banking relationships and ensuring compliance with banking covenants.
10. Coordinate and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and effective statutory audits and financial reviews.
B. Risk Management & Compliance
- Act as Risk and Compliance Manager to support the CEO and top management in identifying, evaluating, and monitoring financial and operational risks.
- Update the EMS.Net risk system with new risks or any changes to existing risks, ensuring real-time accuracy.
- Lead the risk assessment and action plan process, including discussions with the CEO and preparation of risk scorecards for Corporate Risk Management Committee Meetings.
- Facilitate risk-related workshops and training across departments to embed a riskaware culture.
- Support the review and continuous improvement of risk action plans for effectiveness and mitigation success.
C. Operational Excellence & Strategic Finance
- Establish finance-related SOPs and policies that support business strategy and operational consistency.
- Track KPIs such as Gross Profit, Cash Position, PBT, and ensure alignment with strategic financial objectives.
- Lead initiatives for financial performance improvements, including cost optimization, OPEX efficiency, and new banking facility negotiations.
- Review and approve financial models and investment proposals to support decision making and strategic growth.
- Represent finance in cross-functional initiatives and management meetings, offering financial insight to guide strategic direction.
Job Specification:
- Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or a related field. Master's Degree in Accounting or MBA is an added advantage.
- Work Experience:
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, and risk compliance.
- At least 3-5 years in a managerial or senior supervisory role.
- Experience in environmental, engineering, or infrastructure related industries is an advantage.
- Familiarity with both private sector financial regulations and statutory reporting (e.g., SSM, tax authorities).
- In-depth knowledge of:
· Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS)
· Budgeting and forecasting
· Financial modelling and analysis
· Risk assessment methodologies
· Statutory and tax regulations
4.Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in financial systems such as SQL, SAP, or Oracle.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial dashboard/reporting skills.
- Strong financial analysis and data management capabilities.
