The Role:

We’re on the hunt for a savvy, strategic and hands-on Finance Manager to take charge of the financial operations of Urban Core. This role is central to our leadership team – helping us make smart decisions, lead with insight, and fuel our long-term growth. You’ll oversee everything from project budgeting to payroll, while championing process improvement and financial transparency.

Experience and Qualifications:

Masters or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field (CPA preferred)

Minimum 6 years’ experience in financial management or accounting

Minimum 2 years in a leadership role, with strong team management abilities

Strong understanding of financial principles and reporting standards

High level proficiency in financial software and construction specific systems, e.g. Procore, Xero.

Construction industry specific knowledge required. 

Responsibilities:

Delivering clear, timely and accurate financial reports.

Managing cash flow, budgeting and forecasting across our project pipeline.

Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, subcontractor payments, and supplier invoice approvals.

Leading financial audits, BAS submissions, insurance renewals and external stakeholder management.

Reconciling accounts across Xero and Procore – and making sure the numbers tell the same story.

Preparing fortnightly payroll (for both Urban Core and our Not for Profit business NexGen).

Driving systems improvements and smarter ways of working across finance.

Mentoring junior finance staff and promoting a culture of curiosity, accountability, and commercial awareness.

Aligning budgets and strategies with business goals – helping us build beyond today.
