Role Description

Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa, located in Canada's capital, fosters a collaborative, growth-oriented environment where employees are encouraged to contribute across functions and develop their careers. We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead our financial operations, oversee offshore accounting resources, and ensure strong governance across multiple Canadian legal entities. This role requires a seasoned finance professional who is both strategic and hands-on, and who can work effectively with the Ottawa operational team across time zones.

Key responsibilities

Financial leadership & oversight

  • Lead the full month-end close, quarterly rolling forecasts, and annual financial reporting; review and approve work prepared by offshore team members.
  • Provide financial insights and decision support to Ottawa's operational and executive leadership.

Team management

  • Directly supervise and coach the junior offshore accountant; establish clear workflows and communication rhythms across time zones.
  • Collaborate closely with the Ottawa operations team to align financial processes with day-to-day campus activities.

Compliance, audit & governance

  • Coordinate interim and year-end audits as primary liaison with external auditors; oversee HST and tax filings across six legal entities.
  • Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and compliance frameworks across all finance processes.

Systems & data integrity

  • Govern Business Central master data and oversee all financial systems (Business Central, POS platforms, payment terminals) ensuring accuracy and integration.

Planning & special projects

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and capex tracking; lead process improvement and special compliance projects assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, audit processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading month-end close and managing audits.
  • Experience managing offshore or distributed teams is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Business Central preferred) and financial technology platforms
