The Role – Finance Director (Japan)
This is a key leadership role reporting directly to regional and global stakeholders, responsible for overseeing the full finance function in Japan.
You will act as a strategic business partner to the commercial leadership team, while also remaining hands-on in core finance operations, including accounting oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee full finance operations in Japan (FP&A, accounting, reporting)
- Act as a key business partner to Sales, GM, and regional leadership
- Drive financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis
- Ensure accurate and compliant accounting and reporting (US GAAP / IFRS / JGAAP as applicable)
- Strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks
- Support strategic initiatives, including growth, transformation, and process improvement
- Manage and develop the local finance team
Your Skills & Experience
- Native Japanese with business‑level English
- Proven experience in a Finance Director / Senior Finance leadership role within an MNC
- Strong stakeholder management capability across Japan, regional, and global teams
- Hands-on leader with the ability to operate both strategically and operationall
Solid experience covering:
- Accounting
- FP&A / business partnering
- Reporting & compliance
Experience in
- medical device, healthcare, FMCG, or industrial sectors is highly advantageous Track record of working in a matrix, international environment
