About the Role
We’re looking for a Financial Controller to build and lead the core accounting and finance operations function from the ground up. This role will work closely with the founders and own end-to-end financial operations, compliance, and reporting, while also hiring and setting up an in-house finance team.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who enjoys creating structure, building teams, and driving strong financial governance in a fast-scaling startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, and monthly/annual close
- Build and manage the in-house finance & accounting team (hiring, structuring, and mentoring)
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and preparation of financial statements
- Lead statutory audits, internal audits, and financial due diligence
- Manage GST, TDS, FEMA, RBI, and other regulatory compliances
- Establish and strengthen internal controls, policies, and audit frameworks
- Oversee working capital management, including payables, receivables, and cash flow tracking
- Drive inventory accounting / cost tracking (if applicable)
- Implement and improve ERP/accounting systems and finance processes
- Own vendor payments, reconciliations, and treasury operations
- Support investor reporting from a financials and compliance standpoint
- Handle cap table tracking and ESOP accounting
What We’re Looking For
- CA preferred
- 4–8 years of experience in core accounting / controllership roles
- Strong experience in audits, financial reporting, and compliance
- Proven experience in building or managing finance/accounting teams
- Hands-on exposure to Indian regulatory frameworks (GST, TDS, etc.)
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment preferred
- Strong ownership mindset with attention to detail
Good to Have
- Experience setting up finance functions in a 0→1 environment
- Exposure to ERP implementation (Zoho, Tally, Netsuite, etc.)
- Familiarity with multi-entity or cross-border structures
