Job Description

About the Role

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for a finance professional who takes pride in clean books, airtight compliance, and proactive financial management.

You will be the primary point of contact for all finance, tax, audit, and regulatory matters in Nepal, working closely with the General Manager, APAC, and interfacing with banks, auditors, legal counsel, and government authorities directly.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Accounting

  • Own all accounting operations, end-to-end accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and integrity across all financial records.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports for internal leadership review.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to ensure the organization maintains financial health and operational readiness.
  • Review and approve invoices, expense claims, and payment processing, ensuring all transactions are accurate, compliant, and processed on time.
  • Monitor key financial metrics on an ongoing basis and surface actionable insights to support business decisions.

Compliance & Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure full and timely compliance with Nepal tax laws, VAT, TDS, income tax, and corporate tax filings submitted to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
  • Manage FDI-specific regulatory obligations, including DoI annual reporting and FDI compliance filings, NRB foreign currency transaction requirements, and profit repatriation procedures, in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on compliance matters as needed to mitigate regulatory risk and ensure the organization operates within legal boundaries.
  • Stay current on changes to Nepal's tax, FDI, and corporate regulations and proactively flag implications for the business.

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls, financial governance frameworks, and audit-ready documentation standards appropriate for an FDI entity operating under Nepal regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to manage the annual statutory audit process end-to-end, ensuring timely and clean audit closures.
  • Proactively identify control gaps, compliance risks, and process inefficiencies and drive corrective action before they surface as audit findings.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized financial records that can withstand regulatory scrutiny from the IRD, NRB, or any other governing authority at any point in time.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with banks, auditors, finance consultants, legal consultants, and government authorities.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with external partners to support the organization's financial and regulatory needs.

Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or ACCA qualification strongly preferred and given priority in shortlisting.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Prior experience working within an FDI company, or in a professional firm handling FDI clients highly desirable and given strong preference.
  • Hands-on experience with Nepal tax compliance, including IRD filings, VAT, and TDS mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of NRB regulations, foreign currency transactions, and repatriation processes a strong advantage.
  • Experience managing intercompany transactions or working within a group company structure is desirable.
  • Experience in a coordination or liaison role with external auditors, legal counsel, or government authorities desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong NFRS and GAAP financial reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting or ERP software Tally, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable dealing with banks, auditors, and government bodies.
  • Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset, able to work independently in a lean team and build processes from scratch.
