Your New Role
- Building collaborative partnerships with operational teams to deliver tailored budgeting and financial advice
- Leading budget preparation, submissions and adjustments using the SIMS government budgeting system
- Contributing to internal and external budget development and the annual estimates cycle
- Preparing Budget Papers, Mid‑Year Review submissions and supporting documentation
- Assisting with business cases and funding submissions
- Conducting complex financial analysis, financial modelling and cost‑benefit assessments
- Monitoring financial performance against budget, analysing variances and recommending corrective actions
- Supporting long‑term financial planning and development of financial policies and frameworks
- Providing regular reporting, insights and financial commentary to senior stakeholders
- Contributing to improved internal budgeting and resource allocation processes
- Ensuring compliance with government financial legislation, frameworks and standards
What You Need to Succeed
- Experience using SIMS or similar government budgeting systems
- Demonstrated financial management skills including analysis, modelling and reporting
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of government financial frameworks, including budgeting processes and relevant legislation
- Experience contributing to internal and external budgets in a complex organisation
- Ability to provide insights, support decision‑making and influence financial outcomes
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- (Desirable) CPA/CA membership or progress toward completion
