Our client, SIA “Trek Technologies”, is an emerging crypto-asset service provider and payment institution in Latvia.
As the company continues to grow, we are inviting an experienced Finance and Safeguarding Officer to join the team.
This position combines full responsibility for the finance function, including accounting and financial reporting, together with client asset safeguarding responsibilities, ensuring daily oversight of client asset segregation, reconciliations, and safeguarding controls.
Main Responsibilities:
Finance & Accounting
- Ensure full-cycle accounting and preparation of financial reports in accordance with Latvian and EU regulations.
- Prepare VAT declarations, tax reports for Valsts ieņēmumu dienests, and regulatory reports for Latvijas Banka and other institutions when necessary.
- Coordinate the annual audit process and cooperate with auditors.
- Maintain and improve finance, accounting, payment, and crypto-asset accounting processes.
- Ensure preparation and submission of regulatory financial reports to Latvijas Banka and other competent authorities.
Prudential Capital & Risk Monitoring
- Calculate, monitor, and report the company’s capital adequacy indicators in line with applicable prudential requirements.
- Monitor compliance with capital adequacy and own funds requirements.
- Track financial risks, operational costs, and capital changes.
- Prepare financial and capital monitoring reports for management.
Client Asset Segregation & Oversight
- Ensure full segregation of client crypto-assets and fiat funds from the company’s own assets.
- Oversee and support reconciliation and accounting systems that track all client crypto-asset and fiat fund movements.
- Conduct or supervise daily reconciliations between internal records and external sources.
- Prepare monthly and annual safeguarding reports.
Regulatory Policy Maintenance
- Assess the impact of regulatory changes on internal policies and procedures and coordinate timely updates.
- Participate in periodic reviews and updates of finance, accounting, and safeguarding policies.
Requirements:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience in financial accounting and reporting within a regulated fintech company, payment institution, electronic money institution, or a similar environment.
- Understanding of prudential capital requirements and own funds calculations.
- Experience with client asset safeguarding, segregation principles, and reconciliation processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
- Strong analytical skills, proactivity, and the ability to work within strict regulatory deadlines.
- Ability to prepare clear reports for management and regulators.
- Professional proficiency in Latvian and English (for communication with international colleagues and partners).
Strong Advantages:
- Professional accounting qualification.
- Hands-on experience with Xero and/or NetSuite.
- Previous experience combining finance and safeguarding responsibilities within a regulated fintech environment.
- Experience with accounting and reconciliations in payment services and/or crypto-asset environments.
- Experience working with Latvijas Banka or other EU financial regulators.
