Our client in Whitby, ON is looking for an experienced Finance and Accounting Manager to join their team. This role oversees the full spectrum of accounting and finance activities, with particular emphasis on accounts receivable and credit management, budgeting, cash flow, forecasting, financial reporting, taxation, audit management (internal, SOX, and external), foreign exchange, banking operations, and accounts payable. The Manager ensures strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and effective support to the senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff.
- Drive process improvements and strengthen financial controls.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee daily finance and accounting functions.
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and submissions to headquarters.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Accounts Receivable & Credit
- Manage AR, collections, credit reviews, and bad debt provisioning.
- Oversee AR insurance, limit reviews, claims, and negotiations.
- Liaise with customers, vendors, and sales on credit and financial issues.
Banking, FX & Risk
- Manage bank accounts, payments, wires, and FX purchases.
- Monitor economic/market indicators to guide FX and credit risk decisions.
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure SOX compliance; lead internal, external, and government audits.
- Support fraud investigations and maintain strict confidentiality.
Cross‑Functional Support
- Partner with internal teams to resolve financial and customer issues.
- Support special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Business; CPA or working toward CPA.
- 8+ years accounting experience (5+ in management).
- Strong technical knowledge: IFRS, ASPE, US GAAP, SOX.
- Strong knowledge of bankruptcy regulations, debtor‑creditor litigation, and credit/bank report analysis.
- Advanced Excel/MS Office; AS400 experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
