About the Role
This long-established electronic component distributor operating across New Zealand and Australia, as they continue to evolve the finance function, they are on the search for an experienced is on the search for a Finance Lead Accountant to join the team in a flexible, remote-first position.
This is a part-time opportunity ideal for someone seeking school-hour-friendly work, flexibility, and work-life balance while remaining engaged in a meaningful finance role. You'll play a key part in owning finance control, month-end, reporting, payroll/tax oversight, external accountant coordination and managing he AU/NZ compliance calendar.
The Role
As the senior finance professional within the business, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the finance function across both New Zealand and Australia.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the month-end close process and maintaining robust financial controls.
- Preparing and reviewing management reports, financial statements, cashflow reporting, and performance analysis.
- Managing GST, BAS, payroll-related compliance, and finance reporting obligations across NZ and Australia.
- Coordinating with external accountants, advisors, and payroll providers.
- Overseeing payroll processes and ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
- Monitoring cashflow, banking activities, overseas payments, and foreign exchange transactions.
- Supporting and guiding the Finance Officer / Bookkeeper.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced reporting.
- Documenting key finance procedures and strengthening business continuity.
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on.
You'll bring:
- Previous experience as a Management Accountant, Company Accountant, Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar.
- A recognised accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong expertise in month-end reporting, reconciliations, management reporting, and financial controls.
- Experience working with payroll, tax compliance, and external advisors.
- The ability to manage priorities independently in a remote working environment.
- Strong systems skills and confidence using accounting and ERP platforms.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to roll up your sleeves when required.
Desirable experience includes:
- Distribution, importing, wholesale, or inventory-based businesses.
- Multi-currency environments and foreign exchange transactions.
- MYOB Exo or similar ERP systems.
- Process improvement and finance transformation projects.
