Job Responsibilities
York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The Financial Aid Operations Assistant performs the following functions:
Assists with the daily operations, reporting of disbursements/refunds, and processing in various financial aid administration systems.
Generates correspondence to students regarding financial aid application process, missing information, award letters and satisfactory academic progress notifications. Provide administrative support to the department, which includes the preparation, maintenance and security of all required forms, and letters.
Advises students concerning financial aid opportunities, application procedures and financial management strategies. Assists in staffing and providing quality customer service in the Welcome Center reception area, includes managing student traffic, utilizing the administrative software system to determine and verify document requirements, and providing full customer service in a respectful and confidential manner. Assists students with FAFSA filing as needed.
Supports the Primary School Certifying Official in management of VA case files as the secondary school certifying official. Ensuring compliance with all regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant experience OR and equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and experience in federal student financial aid programs.
