About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Operations to lead the operational and manufacturing strategy for our facilities in Guayanilla and Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving business performance, operational excellence, profitability, quality, safety, sustainability, and long-term growth.
The successful candidate will oversee manufacturing operations, supply chain strategy, continuous improvement initiatives, capital investments, and organizational development while ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the operational strategy for both manufacturing facilities.
- Align operations with corporate growth, profitability, and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for expansion, automation, innovation, and process optimization.
- Actively participate in the organization's annual strategic planning process.
Manufacturing & Operations Management
- Lead manufacturing operations across multiple product lines, including:
- Paints and coatings
- Sealants
- Detergents
- Cementitious products
- Adhesives and grouts
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, cost, customer service, and safety.
- Ensure adequate resources are available to meet production targets.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and operational reliability initiatives.
Financial Leadership
- Develop and manage operational and capital expenditure budgets.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and financial performance to improve profitability.
- Review and approve capital investments, improvement projects, and strategic purchasing decisions.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal, environmental, and industry regulations.
- Promote and maintain a world-class safety culture.
- Drive quality management systems that ensure customer satisfaction and product excellence.
Organizational Development
- Lead talent development, succession planning, and leadership growth initiatives.
- Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence programs.
Capital Investment (CAPEX) Strategy
- Develop and lead the Capital Investment Master Plan (CAPEX) for both facilities.
- Evaluate, prioritize, and approve capital projects related to:
- Capacity expansion
- Automation
- Equipment modernization
- Infrastructure improvements
- Safety and environmental compliance
- Present investment proposals to executive leadership and/or the Board of Directors, including ROI, payback analysis, and risk assessments.
- Manage the annual CAPEX budget and ensure effective allocation of financial resources.
- Oversee project execution to ensure scope, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Identify opportunities for technological innovation and operational improvements through strategic investments.
- Evaluate post-implementation project performance to ensure expected business benefits are realized.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- MBA or Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
Experience
- 15–20 years of progressive manufacturing experience.
- Minimum of 10 years in senior leadership or executive-level positions.
- Proven experience managing multiple manufacturing plants or business units.
- Strong background in one or more of the following industries:
- Chemicals
- Paints and coatings
- Detergents
- Construction materials
- Industrial products
