Compensation: $180,000 – $200,000 Base + Bonus

Overview

Our client is a high-growth retail platform specializing in freshly prepared meals and packaged food solutions, serving consumers through brick-and-mortar locations and expanding distribution channels across Texas. With strong brand momentum and increasing operational scale, the company is entering a critical phase of institutionalizing its financial infrastructure and preparing for significant growth.

The organization is backed by private equity investors and is building the financial leadership team needed to support continued expansion, operational discipline, and long-term value creation.

We are seeking a Director of Finance / FP&A who will serve as the right hand to the CFO, playing a central role in building and scaling the company’s finance organization. This individual will have the opportunity to help build the finance function from the ground up, lead financial planning and analysis, and partner directly with the private equity sponsors and board on performance reporting and strategic initiatives.

This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in high-growth environments and wants to help build a best-in-class finance organization within a rapidly expanding retail platform.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Leadership & Infrastructure

  • Serve as a strategic partner and operational right hand to the CFO.
  • Help build and scale the finance department from the ground up, including systems, reporting, processes, and team structure.
  • Establish disciplined financial planning, forecasting, and reporting frameworks as the organization grows.
  • Develop scalable financial processes to support new store openings, operational expansion, and future acquisitions.

Strategic Planning & Board Reporting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
  • Prepare board-level reporting packages, financial dashboards, and investor updates.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to evaluate growth initiatives, expansion strategy, and capital deployment decisions.
  • Work closely with private equity partners and board members on performance visibility and value-creation initiatives.

Retail & Operational Finance

  • Develop store-level financial reporting and KPI dashboards across locations.
  • Analyze core operational drivers including:
  • Sales per labor hour
  • Food cost percentages
  • Inventory turns and shrink
  • Same-store sales growth
  • Unit-level profitability
  • Partner with operations to improve labor planning, margin performance, and cost controls.

Forecasting & Advanced Analytics

  • Build robust revenue forecasting models incorporating seasonality, promotions, and consumer traffic trends.
  • Develop predictive analytics tied to demand planning and waste reduction for perishable goods.
  • Improve reporting automation and financial systems integration.

Team Development & Process Improvement

  • Help build and mentor the finance and FP&A team as the organization scales.
  • Implement standardized reporting, budgeting, and financial planning processes across the company.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial visibility and decision-making cadence.

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of progressive finance experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or operational finance roles.
  • Experience in multi-unit retail, restaurant, grocery, QSR, or consumer packaged food businesses strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with ERP and BI tools such as NetSuite, SAP, Power BI, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build financial infrastructure in high-growth environments.
  • Experience working with private equity-backed companies, board reporting, or investor communication strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA a plus.
