Purpose of Position

This full-time position is responsible for managing the financial affairs for Discover Lancaster. This position reports to the President.

Nature and Scope of Position

This position manages all financial functions for the organization and is responsible for ensuring the overall fiduciary integrity of the organization. 

Essential Functions

 

1.  Develop and prepare the annual budget with guidance from the President and Department Directors.

2.  Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and internal control guidelines and procedures. Implement systems to improve processes as needed.

3.  Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (GAAP)

4.  Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce accurate monthly financial reports, including budget updates, forecasts and cash flow. Track budget variances.

5.  Meet with department directors monthly to review current spending and comparison to budgets.

6.  Oversee the filing of monthly sales tax returns.

7.  Manage payroll reporting and implementation. Work with Payroll Company to ensure accuracy of quarterly and yearly tax reports.

8.  Maintain individual employee personnel and payroll records.

9.  Other HR and management related duties as requested.

10. Manage and facilitate employee benefits, including health insurance enrollment.

11. Analyze and maintain comprehensive commercial insurance, including CYBR insurance and D&O insurance.

12. Analyze cash flow needs and manage funds efficiently.

13. Manage investments according to Board approved Investment policy.

14. Maintain all banking relationships to ensure secure and fraud preventive banking.

15. Manage, coordinate and oversee annual audit.

16. Attend bi-monthly Executive Board meetings to review company financials.

17. Manage and facilitate Finance Committee meetings three times per year.

18. Maintain Fixed asset and Depreciation schedules.

19. Manage corporate credit card accounts, including reviewing potentially fraudulent transactions and authorizing spending limits. Review credit card transactions.

20. Maintain and administer retirement 401K plan. Ensure timely enrollment for eligible employees. Process loan or withdrawal requests. Function as organization fiduciary to complete proper government reporting requirements. Monitor plan compliance.

21. Assist with collections of outstanding accounts receivable.

Background Required to Perform Essential Functions

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 7-10 years’ experience in a related position
  • CPA a plus
  • Familiar with QuickBooks accounting software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills 
  • Superior judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Able to function in a fast-paced workplace environment
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Team player in a collaborative work environment
  • Capable of working with confidential and sensitive information
