Title: Director of Finance
Company: Treaty Oak Financial
Location: Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area
1. Who we are
There's never been a better time to be in the business of helping founders build. We partner with growth oriented companies as their outsourced accounting and fractional finance partner, and we're growing rapidly. Technology is enabling a new kind of accounting firm – one that moves faster and thinks bigger. We’re building something genuinely new, and it shows in how we work.
We're looking for someone who is organized but creative, hardworking but self-directed, and who finds real energy in building teams, improving systems, and delivering exceptional accounting work at scale. If you want a role where you impact how a company operates and grows, this is it.
2. The role
- This is a senior finance leadership role with real ownership. You'll lead the delivery of our finance services across a portfolio of high-growth clients, manage and develop a team of professionals, and drive the operational infrastructure that keeps our firm running at a high level. You'll work closely with our Founders and leadership team to build the systems, workflows, and standards that define how Treaty Oak services its clients.
- This role is for someone who is both strategic and execution-focused: comfortable thinking about how our product scales while also rolling up their sleeves and solving hard problems.
Team Leadership & Internal Finance
- Lead, manage, and develop Treaty Oak's internal finance team: setting standards, reviewing work, and building a culture of ownership and accuracy
- Manage team capacity planning and workload distribution across the client portfolio to optimize throughput and quality
- Build a culture of ownership, accuracy, and continuous improvement, one where the team takes pride in the work and holds itself accountable
- Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching conversations that help team members grow and succeed
- Partner with leadership on hiring decisions as the team scales
Client Finance Work
- Serve as a fractional finance leader across a portfolio of growth-oriented professional services and emerging businesses, stepping in as the senior finance voice those teams need
- Lead or support month-end close, financial reporting, and management reporting packages for complex client engagements where depth and judgment matter
- Provide CFO-level strategic guidance (revenue optimization, cost structure, capital planning, and business performance) clients navigating growth
- Identify gaps in client finance functions and fix them, whether that's a missing process, a weak control, or a reporting blind spot
- Partner with the broader Treaty Oak team to deliver an exceptional client experience – you're a resource the team can lean on for complex situations
3. Who we're looking for
- You have deep experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting – and you've done it both internally and in a client-facing context
- You've worked in a multi-client, outsourced, or fractional finance environment and know what it takes to context-switch quickly and deliver across a portfolio
- You're a strong people manager who builds accountable, high-performing teams
- You're both strategic and execution-focused
- You communicate financial complexity clearly so that partners, founders, and non-finance stakeholders trust your thinking
- You use AI tools and modern financial technology because you're always looking for a smarter way to work
- You've thrived in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- You spot gaps and close them without being asked
- You thrive in ambiguity and find real satisfaction in building order out of complexity
4. Qualifications
- 10+ years of FP&A experience, including 5+ years in a high-growth startup or scaling environment
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and balance sheet accounting
- You’ve got a good command of Excel – you can build and maintain schedules and complex models
CPA license is a plus
5. Logistics & comp
- Competitive base compensation
- Profit-share annual bonus
- Health Insurance, 401k plan, and monthly stipends for internet and cell phone
- Remote-first; Texas residence preferred. Team trips to Austin
