About the Role

This is a high-ownership role partnering closely with the President and leadership team to guide the business through its next phase of growth. You’ll own the company’s financial operating model, support cross-functional decision-making, and ensure that the fundamentals — from financial reporting to operational execution — are executed with discipline and care. 

The right person thrives in big-picture thinking while managing day-to-day execution — equally comfortable building models, analyzing KPIs, and handling the operational details that keep the business running smoothly. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

  • Partner closely with the President and leadership team to shape and execute financial strategy
  • Build, own, and continuously refine the company’s financial and operating model 
  • Develop financial analyses to support growth initiatives, including new product launches, channel expansion, pricing, and promotions 
  • Provide clear insights and recommendations to inform decisions across marketing, operations, and sales 
  • Maintain strong focus on accuracy, cash discipline, and actionable metrics 

Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting 

  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and cash planning processes 
  • Track and analyze KPIs across DTC, retail, wholesale, marketing, and operations
  • Produce weekly and monthly reporting focused on key drivers, risks, and opportunities
  • Deliver internal and external financial reporting in clear, investor-ready formats 
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis in support of strategic initiatives

Accounting, Controls & Financial Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close and financial reporting Manage and coordinate a fractional Controller and third-party accounting firm supporting AR/AP
  • Implement scalable systems, processes, and internal controls to ensure accurate financials
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for audits, tax work, and external advisors
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax and indirect tax obligations across jurisdictions 
  • Manage banking relationships and general financial administration, including AP and bill payments

Payroll, People Operations & Administration

  • Oversee payroll approval, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance 
  • Support finance-adjacent HR and administrative functions, including onboarding/offboarding and benefits coordination 
  • Ensure employee-related compliance requirements are met 
  • Approach operational responsibilities with a hands-on, no-task-is-too-small mindset 

Must Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in investment banking, investing, or operating finance 
  • Strong financial modeling, analysis, and communication skills 
  • Experience owning forecasts, operating plans, and decision-oriented reporting 
  • Solid understanding of inventory-based businesses, including margins and working capital
  • Exposure to beauty, CPG, DTC, retail, or wholesale businesses 
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day execution
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity with a hands-on, problem-solving approach 
  • Low-ego, solutions-oriented working style; collaborative and accountable partner 
  • Genuine interest in consumer brands, particularly beauty, wellness, or lifestyle

Nice to Haves

  • Experience at a private equity, growth equity, or venture capital fund (consumer-focused a plus)
  • Experience supporting fundraising or investor reporting 
  • Experience scaling finance systems or processes 
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting or Finance
