Our client, a leading organization in the retail and foodservice space, is seeking a dynamic Director of Business Performance Improvement (BPI) to spearhead high‑impact initiatives that elevate category performance and accelerate growth. This strategic leader will focus on unlocking the company’s most significant commercial opportunities, translating insights into action, and driving measurable financial results.

In this role, you will partner closely with Merchandising and key cross-functional teams to identify top growth levers, diagnose performance challenges, and implement solutions that strengthen market position and profitability. You will oversee both strategy development and execution, ensuring alignment across leadership teams while championing a data‑driven approach to decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute strategic, insight-driven initiatives that address the organization’s most critical business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising and cross-functional partners to pinpoint growth drivers, prioritize opportunities, and establish clear performance metrics.
  • Lead comprehensive analysis—both quantitative and qualitative—to uncover root causes of underperformance and areas for improvement across categories.
  • Work closely with Field Merchandising and Sales teams to operationalize strategies, ensuring impactful execution and activation in the market.
  • Coach and develop team members to strengthen analytical rigor and elevate their ability to generate actionable recommendations.
  • Oversee the creation of tools, dashboards, and assets that streamline performance diagnosis and opportunity identification.
  • Present unified strategies and end‑to‑end growth plans to Executive Leadership, ensuring clarity, alignment, and accountability.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated leadership of teams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Minimum four years of experience after obtaining an MBA (for candidates with an MBA).

Preferred:

  • MBA degree.
  • Experience as an Engagement Manager or similar role at a top-tier management consulting firm, with expertise in growth strategy, commercial strategy, or go‑to‑market execution.
  • Background in category management, product management, or merchandising within CPG, retail, or foodservice (4+ years strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with the foodservice and B2B landscape.
