About the Opportunity:
The organization is a leader in building ecosystems that accelerate open technology development and commercial adoption. Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Finance and Accounting manages all accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, strategic planning, and team leadership, ensuring compliance with GAAP and tax regulations while driving operational excellence through system upgrades and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage finance and accounting departments under CFO supervision
• Monitor monthly financial close, including cost recording, journal entry review, and financial statement preparation
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and operational strategies
• Improve system efficiencies and business practices continuously
• Participate in financial reporting system upgrades and implementations
• Ensure timely filing of financial statements, reports, and tax filings, including VAT
• Collaborate with budget owners and stakeholders for timely month-end close and management reporting
• Work with external auditors to ensure audit success and compliance
• Maintain chart of accounts for accuracy in ledgers and financial statements
• Analyze statutory accounting practices to ensure GAAP compliance
• Develop and maintain internal controls to protect assets and ensure accurate reporting
Requirements:
• Strong interest in Open Source; experience a plus but not required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited institution
• Over 10 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in leadership
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, strategic planning, and managing teams
• Experience in complex, multi-department financial environments
• Extensive knowledge of financial regulations, GAAP, and tax laws
• Proficiency with ERP systems, Excel, and financial modeling
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strategic thinker with ability to manage complex financial scenarios
• Ability to lead teams in fast-paced, high-pressure settings
• High integrity and transparency in financial decision-making
• Proactive problem solver focused on change and process improvement
• Self-starter capable of independent work on special projects

Compensation:
• Salary $170,000 USD
