A publicly traded, organization is searching for a Director of Accounting and Reporting to oversee corporate accounting and external financial reporting. This role reports directly to the VP of Accounting and will serve as a true partner in strengthening technical accounting, financial reporting, and team performance. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of hands‑on technical expertise, public‑company reporting experience, and natural leadership—someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves while also guiding and developing a team.
This position pays 165K-175K+Bonus and is in office ONLY 2 days/week.

What You’ll Do
- Oversee corporate accounting and external financial reporting for a publicly traded company
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Own preparation and review of SEC filings (10‑K, 10‑Q), including XBRL tagging
- Ensure strong technical accounting compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements
- Partner with the VP of Accounting to strengthen processes, analytics, and internal controls
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations Accounting and Investor Relations
- Review complex accounting matters and provide technical guidance to the team
- Identify opportunities to shorten close timelines and improve financial reporting quality
- Mentor and develop talent, setting expectations and elevating team performance
What They’re Looking For
- Strong technical accounting expertise
- Deep corporate general ledger and close experience
- Proven public‑company financial reporting experience (10‑K, 10‑Q)
- 8-12+ years of progressive accounting and reporting experience
- Background in public accounting (Big Four or national firm) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of rallying and developing teams
- Naturally curious mindset—asks questions, challenges status quo, drives improvement
- Experience with XBRL tagging
